Margaritas were good!! We algo tried the queda birrias, and the guacamole is super fresh! The environment is good, great music and good service.

This place is definitely divey and looks like a lot of locals stop by for late night drinks. The bartender was so nice. I asked for sangria and he said he didn't know how to make it, but truly did his best and made me a second drink that he didn't put on the check. The tortilla soup was really good, which I didn't expect since it seems like a great "drunk food" kind of place. Overall, the staff was nice and it was a nice place to grab a quick drink and snack. Don't expect it to be a high end restaurant. It's a chill place to grab some drinks and relax.
There's a surprising dearth of late night options in DTLA that serve both food and alcohol, so it was only a matter time before we tried El Patron. We arrived a little past 10:00pm on a Wednesday and it wasn't at all packed, but there was definitely a lively crowd of diners and drinkers that only swelled as it got later. The service was super friendly and welcoming and honestly I wasn't expecting much, but the food was actually pretty good. The chicken nachos were excellent and seemed slightly baked? with melted cheese just the way I like them, and the carne asada fajitas came out sizzling hot. Drinks came out pretty fast throughout the night and the server did a great job checking up on us periodically. As expected, they have a great selection of tequilas. El Patron Cantina is a gem of a place in DTLA to grab a drink and some food late night. I can definitely see myself wandering back in here from time to time.
